My name is Maryellen Stipe and I am the author of the Women at Crossroads Blog. While I enjoy “blogging” my “real” job is being a pastor, teacher and counselor. These vocations require communication and so I consider myself fortunate because as a part of my career, my love for writing and speaking has always found expression.  Each year I have the privilege of being the speaker at numerous women’s events and functions and I possess a passion for equipping Christian women for life’s journey.

On most days, I can be found at Crossroads Church of Denver leading the women’s ministry. And as a part of that job, I teach the Crossroads Women’s Bible Study. I am honored to address a group of over two hundred women weekly and they never cease to inspire me. It is the members of this group who are the frequent contributors to this blog.

Along the way I have received training as both a teacher and a counselor. I hold a B.A. degree in Social Ecology from the University of California and a M.A. in Counseling from Denver Seminary. Since 1996, I have also served as Executive Director of “The Care Center” an in-church counseling ministry.

Unsurpassed in my life is the fact that I am happily married to my best friend, Tom Stipe. Tom also just happens to be the founding pastor of Crossroads. I have always enjoyed working along side my husband in ministry and in my opinion one of the assets we bring to church work is the ability to work as team.

Above all other accomplishments, Tom and I are the proud parents of three grown children; Jennifer Mouttet, Allison Schwab and Thomas Stipe. These three are uniformly bright and engaging individuals and each one brings “life” and texture to our family.

In recent years I have also been blessed by becoming a grandma. My grandchildren, Andrew, Avery and Ella bring me utter joy and are just another reason to brag and blog.

    Hi Maryellen,
I met you briefly at the exit door last Sunday and mentioned Mike MacIntosh and that I had a packet to give to Tom. Truth be told I am very new to blogging and was a little hesitant to place everything in my email to you at the church within this blog space! Thank you for this blog and helping us less knowledgeable gain a better understanding!! Have a Blessed day! Candi Sage, Festival Coordinator, LifeLight Colorado
